It was a BIG day at our house!

We have been talking about ordering Lindsey's bed for awhile and since her bedding will finally be here anyday, we were going to order it this week. Well Ryan crawling out of his crib has moved that timeline up! We went today to Costco to get her, her big girl bed! She was very excited and even helped her daddy push it to the front. When we got home, we moved it upstairs, unwrapped it and made it with her new sheets. She promptly got all of her animals and Dora and tucked them in!

Then I said ok, the pacis go with the crib because the next baby that gets the crib will need pacis (I was only testing the waters - because I really don't care if she gives it up). But she was ok with it - she went down for her nap (never slept - but not unusal), I asked her when she got up if it was still ok, her answer 'yes'. So then bedtime came.....and she did it! She went to bed for the first time in over three years with not even one paci! I am not sure if this will keep up - but we are proud of her no matter what! 1 night is an accomplishment as far as we are concerned.

Hi Mommy!

The kids were upstairs napping and Matt and I went downstairs to get dinner ready. About five mins later we hear "Hi Mommy!", um from the landing of the stairs and it's Ryan! Our boy has discovered how to crawl out of his crib!!!

Lindseyisms!

I recently overheard Lindsey saying "I am Buzzlightyear - I come in PIECES"

And as I was leaving last night - "Do I get to go to Sammy's TEASPOON party tonight??" Because I had told her she would be going when Maga and Paga watched her. What she didn't realize is that they are watching her Saturday and Sunday while we sneak away for an overnighter and the party is on Saturday - all she remembered is what I had told her :D

I'm seeing stars!

We have started a 'big girl' chart for Lindsey in hopes of teaching her new habits with praise and of course, bribes! The other day she really wanted a new pair of Dora shoes and so Matt and I decided to have her earn it - by being a big girl and earning stars doing so - 7 to be exact. The way she could earn them was to go potty on her own, picking up her toys and listening. She earned the first 7 quickly and then was on to wanting a new baby, so the stars come into play again - this time 10! And now we are working on her staying in bed at night and not GETTING UP 10,000 TIMES!!! So far, so good and she has one more star to earn before she gets her baby. She even upped the ante by emptying the dishwasher on her own. I guess you could say this is the beginning of chores and allowance!

Nap is still in effect and potty is going good...

shhhhhhhhh.....don't tell anyone but Lindsey is back to regular napping and Ryan has no more then one accident a day and he tells us - we don't have to ask!!! I am liking this 'phase' and hope it doesn't pass too quickly!

Bedtime Routine

Every night we have our routine, jammies, teeth, each one picks a book which one or the other of us reads, then mommy rocks then Daddy picks a bed to run to and the kids go running after. We put Lindsey in bed first, kiss her, including Ryan and then Ryan closes the door 'gently' behind us. Then we put Ryan in bed, he lays down, we tuck him in and as I walk out, he says 'night mommy' and as I close his door, Lindsey says, 'love you too Mom!!!"

"I ned you"

This is what I hear when Ryan needs me!! Parenting at it's finest, it's things like this that keep me going.

And the potty saga continues

This weekend was really our first time going out and just going cold turkey. We put Ryan in underwear and pants and just went and what did he do....he remained accident free and even went on the potty while we were out!

L-I-N-D

is what I heard come out of Lindsey's mouth the other day as she started to spell her name. I had no idea she knew how - guess Kolbe's is paying off.

Why do I bother doing this Matt asked me...

Because it's not like anyone is going to read it - I explained to him that I don't care that it was strictly for me and the kids baby's books - anyone else was just a bonus.

We took the plunge

And went out on an outing with no safety net - plenty of new pants, but no training pants - just big boy underwear and toilet in hand (well under the stroller anyways) and we were off to the mall. He did great! He actually peed when we went and kept his pants dry. Tomorrow is the big test, we have two birthday parties - hopefully he will keep it up, if not - I am armed and ready!!!

Maybe I spoke too soon

but she has napped the past two days for 3 hours - yeah, yeah I know, I just jinxed it! Oh well, what will be, will be.
